Charles Bissue, the former Secretary to the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has said he will submit himself to the law if the court finds him guilty in the ongoing corruption case against him.

He insisted that the ongoing trial by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) must be allowed to run its course to establish the truth, adding that he remains confident the process will prove his innocence.

Speaking in an interview sighted by GhanaWeb on YouTube on July 6, 2026, Bissue said he was ready to accept the outcome of the court process, regardless of the verdict.

“I just want the law to bring out the truth. I think it is already about 24 paragraphs of the evidence that have been struck out of about 50. So, we are going to go on with the trial.

“If it is one cedi that I stole, I will subject myself to the laws of this country. But if people use their office to abuse other people, because we are in a dispensation where somebody can use an office to abuse another person, then that must also be looked at,” he stated.

A High Court in Accra has struck out 24 of the 53 paragraphs in the witness statement of an investigative journalist testifying in the corruption case against Bissue.

The court ruled that the rejected portions amounted to hearsay evidence following objections raised by lawyers for the accused persons.

Bissue is facing six counts of corruption and abuse of public office.
