Mob attack forces indefinite closure of three schools in Yendi
Three schools in Yendi in the Northern Region have been closed indefinitely following a violent incident in which a group of young men allegedly stormed the school premises after they were prevented from putting up structures on the school's playing field.
The affected schools are Zohe EP Primary School, Zohe EP Junior High School (JHS), and St Kizito JHS.

According to a post shared on X by Ghana Chronicles on July 10, 2026, the
incident occurred after some young men attempted to erect structures on the school field but were stopped by school authorities.
The situation reportedly escalated, with the group invading the school compound and allegedly attacking the headmaster of Zohe EP school.
The headmaster reportedly sustained injuries during the assault.
Following the violent incident, authorities directed that the three schools be closed until further notice to protect the lives of pupils, teachers, and other staff while investigations are conducted.
The temporary closure has disrupted academic activities, leaving hundreds of pupils unable to attend classes.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the police is yet to arrest any of the suspects involved in the incident.
