Black Stars left-back, Gideon Mensah is on the verge of agreeing a deal with German side FC Köln to join them on a permanent basis.

The 27-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving French side AJ Auxerre and is expected to complete the move if negotiations continue on their current path.

According to Sky Sports correspondent in Germany, Florian Plettenberg, the two parties have already reached an agreement on personal terms, with negotiations progressing well.

Once the minor details are sorted out and a final agreement is reached, the player is expected to sign a contract and join the German side for the 2026/27 season.

“Advanced negotiations are taking place between 1. FC Köln and Gideon Mensah. Personal terms with the Ghana international have already been agreed. The deal is progressing well. The 27-year-old left-back, who featured for Ghana at the World Cup, is a free agent,” the journalist wrote on his X page.

Mensah featured prominently for the Black Stars during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he cemented his place at left-back with a series of impressive performances.

His outstanding displays have attracted interest from Köln, who believe his skill set will strengthen their defence and help them compete for honours.
