PHOTOS: Veep joins clean-up efforts in flood-hit communities

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has joined the National General Cleaning Exercise aimed at helping flood-affected communities recover while underscoring the government’s commitment to environmental sanitation and collective civic responsibility.

The nationwide clean-up exercise follows recent floods that affected parts of the country, leaving behind waste and debris and raising concerns about blocked waterways and sanitation challenges.

The exercise, which began at 6:00 am on July 10, 2026, is expected to continue until 1:00 pm and resume on July 11, 2026, within the same time period.

It is held under the theme "Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the floods".

The exercise is aimed at mobilising residents to remove waste, clear waterways and promote environmental responsibility.

The Post-Flood Mitigation Committee has stressed that maintaining clean communities requires continuous public involvement beyond the two-day exercise.

It has also urged the public to adopt regular sanitation practices to help prevent future flooding and environmental challenges.
