KMA boss alleges police officers owned some demolished brothels in Kumasi

The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, has alleged that some of the brothels demolished as part of efforts to tackle open prostitution within the city were owned by police officers.

Speaking in a recent interview on Accra FM, he said the officers linked to the brothel have been handed over to the Regional Police Command for further investigation.

“It would interest you to know that some of the brothels we demolished were owned by police officers,” he said.

“Those officers involved have been handed over to the Regional Police Command for further investigation. I personally took them,” he stated.

The Mayor said the situation was concerning but stressed that he has the support of the entire Ashanti Region in his efforts to transform Kumasi.

“We have the support of the entire region. We are determined to make Kumasi the cleanest city,” he said.

Ofori Agyeman Boadi also disclosed that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is intensifying sanitation measures, including the distribution of more than 1,000 waste bins to communities.

He, however, expressed concern over challenges affecting the sanitation campaign, including the stealing of waste bins and the indiscriminate dumping of refuse by some residents.

The Mayor said the Assembly wants residents to take ownership of the initiative and play an active role in maintaining a cleaner environment.
