Black Stars assistant coach, Roger De Sa has opened up on the demanding process of selecting Ghana's final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing it as one of the toughest assignments faced by the technical team.

Speaking on 947's MSW, the South African revealed that he barely had time to settle in Ghana after joining the Black Stars' technical bench before embarking on an extensive scouting mission across Europe.

"I left here and I basically spent three days in Accra and that was it. I got the next flight to Europe and spent the next four weeks travelling from club to club, match to match, whenever the Ghanaian players were playing," De Sa said.

The former Orlando Pirates coach explained that the objective was to personally assess as many Ghanaian players as possible before finalising the squad for the tournament.

"I watched players, sometimes training, so it was a massive mission, to eventually come to your final 26 players. That was a massive challenge on its own," he added.

According to De Sa, the task became even more complicated because of injuries suffered by several players during the build-up to the World Cup, forcing the technical team to constantly review its plans.

"With the injuries that we had, that brought up another challenge," he noted.
