Ntonso residents block burial of alleged killer of Sammy Gyamfi's father-in-law - Reports

Some residents of Ntonso in the Ashanti Region have reportedly prevented the burial of the late husband of Kumawood actress and movie producer, Patricia Osei Boateng, at the community cemetery over his alleged connection to the murder of GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi's father-in-law, Andrews Kwame Amankwah.

In a viral video shared on X on July 13, 2026, a man identified as a resident of Ntonso claimed that the community prevented the deceased's coffin from being lowered into the grave after learning of his alleged involvement in the murder.

"We heard that he murdered Sammy Gyamfi's father-in-law. And after he also passed away, they came here to bury him, but we, the people of Ntonso, prevented his coffin from being lowered into the grave," the resident said.

He also alleged that members of the community opposed the burial because of the accusations against the deceased.

The claims made in the viral video have not been independently verified, and no official statement has been issued by the Ghana Police Service, the family of the deceased, Patricia Osei Boateng, or representatives of Sammy Gyamfi regarding the incident.

Patricia Osei Boateng was remanded into custody by a Kumasi High Court on March 2, 2026, pending further investigations into her alleged involvement in the robbery and murder of Andrews Kwame Amankwah.

Actress remanded over alleged links to murder of Sammy Gyamfi's father-in-law

According to reports, the actress was charged in connection with the case after investigators linked her to the alleged robbery and killing of Amankwah, the father-in-law of GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi.

She was also accused of allegedly assisting suspects to evade arrest.

Police identified her late husband, Eric Duku, as a suspected armed robbery gang leader during the investigations.

Earlier, on February 23, 2026, Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with the robbery and fatal shooting of Amankwah at Ohwim Tigo Junction in Kumasi.

He said a special investigative team had been constituted immediately after the incident, with the first breakthrough coming on February 18, 2026, when a suspect, Akwesi Manu, was arrested in possession of the deceased's Samsung mobile phone.
