'We must get 2026 right' - Dr Boakye Danquah demands fair NPP elections

Former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, Dr Palgrave Boakye Danquah, has called for free, fair and transparent internal elections in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that the party's success in the 2028 general election depends on the credibility of its ongoing internal processes.

In a statement issued on July 13, 2026, Dr Boakye Danquah said he had taken note of concerns raised about the party's internal electoral processes and reaffirmed his opposition to any form of manipulation.

"I condemn all forms of manipulation in our party elections," he stated, adding that the NPP remains "a party of rules, discipline, and internal democracy."

According to Dr Boakye Danquah, getting the 2026 internal elections right is crucial to strengthening the party ahead of the next general election.

"For Abuakwa North to grow and to win in 2028, we must get 2026 right," he said.

He outlined three key principles he believes should guide the electoral process: the use of the validated delegates' register, ensuring that every polling station executive has a voice, and allowing delegates to vote freely without fear or intimidation.

Dr Boakye Danquah further urged party members to put unity and the collective interest of the NPP above personal ambitions.

"Our strength is in unity. Our victory in 2028 depends on how we treat each other today," he noted.

He concluded by urging members to uphold the party's democratic values, declaring, "Let us choose rules over mafia. Let us choose NPP over personal interest."
