GIMPA Alumni's Reception Project shows value of graduate support - Registrar

The Registrar of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Dr Victoria Mwinsumah Puoyeng Kunbuor, has commended the institution’s alumni for refurbishing its reception, describing the project as a testament to the critical role graduates play in supporting the growth and development of their alma mater.

According to her, alumni remain key stakeholders of every university, and their continued involvement is essential to improving infrastructure and strengthening institutional development.

She made the remarks on Monday, July 13, 2026, during the commissioning of GIMPA’s refurbished reception, a project undertaken by the GIMPA Alumni Association.

“We will always look for partnerships to improve the work of the institution, and key partners of GIMPA are alumni. Indeed, every university looks forward to its alumni initiating projects, taking over, coming in to assist, and finding out how things are doing because this is their university,” she said.

The Registrar noted that graduates have a vested interest in the institution because the qualifications they earn bear GIMPA’s name, making them important partners in its continued success.

“The certificate they bear has the name of GIMPA. And so the alumni have a key interest and are key stakeholders of GIMPA,” she stated.

She expressed excitement that the alumni identified the reception as an area requiring urgent attention and followed through on their commitment to refurbish it.

“For us as management, we were excited when the alumni identified a reception that needed refurbishment and offered to do it. Today, that conversation has become a reality, and we are so excited about it and grateful to the alumni,” she added.

While applauding the completion of the project, the Registrar said management remains open to deepening its partnership with alumni to undertake more initiatives that will benefit the institution.

“There’s always more they can do to help us. I’m aware that they have initiated conversations with management to see how they can improve the relationship and also be more involved in the institute’s affairs. For us, we are happy,” she said.

She further described the reception as one of the most important facilities on campus because it serves as the first point of contact for students, visitors, and other stakeholders.

“A reception is a very important place. That’s where students or external persons come. The first point of contact is the reception. For the alumni to realise that this is a very important place and have invested their time and resources to fix it for us, we are so grateful,” she said.

The Registrar expressed optimism that the successful completion of the project would pave the way for stronger collaboration between the institution and its alumni.

“We look forward to better collaboration with them,” she added.
