MoFA secures GH¢1.06m private-sector support for headquarters renovation

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) is set to receive a major facelift after 3TREES Ghana Painting Ltd committed GH¢1,068,455 to renovate and repaint the Ministry's national headquarters under the government's Brighten Ghana Initiative.

The project, which will be fully funded by the company as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, will see the exterior of the Ministry's headquarters renovated at no cost to the government. The sponsorship covers painting materials, labour, equipment, scaffolding, and all related works.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, described the donation as a strong example of how the private sector can support national development through strategic partnerships.

"We are deeply grateful for this remarkable gesture. Today, they are here to paint the national headquarters of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the home of every farmer in Ghana. They are undertaking this project entirely free of charge, and we assure them that the farmers of Ghana appreciate their sacrifice and commitment," he said.

The minister said the support aligns with the government's broader vision of transforming agriculture under President John Dramani Mahama's Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, while also improving public institutions through the Brighten Ghana Initiative.

According to him, the initiative seeks to rehabilitate ageing public infrastructure and create cleaner, more attractive working environments across the country through collaboration between the government and the private sector.

"This initiative is bringing together government, the private sector and development partners to brighten our nation, rehabilitate public institutions, modernise our facilities and improve service delivery to the Ghanaian people," he stated.

Opoku also used the occasion to rally support for the 42nd National Farmers' Day celebration, scheduled for December 4, 2026, describing the annual event as an opportunity to honour the country's farmers for their contribution to food production and national development.

"Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. President John Dramani Mahama has made agriculture a central pillar of Ghana's economic transformation. Through this agenda, we seek to improve livelihoods, create decent jobs and ensure food security for every Ghanaian," he noted.

He further appealed to businesses and individuals to contribute to this year's Farmers' Day celebration, stressing that supporting farmers would ultimately benefit the entire country.

"Every contribution towards Farmers' Day is an investment in Ghana's food security. Supporting our farmers ultimately leads to increased food production, greater agricultural productivity and more affordable food for every household," he added.

The minister also called on more corporate organisations to emulate the example of 3TREES Ghana Painting Ltd by supporting government initiatives aimed at improving public infrastructure and strengthening service delivery.

"We encourage more institutions to join this national effort. Every contribution, regardless of its size, strengthens our agricultural sector, improves food production and ultimately benefits every Ghanaian," he said.

He also acknowledged UMB Bank for supporting the initiative, noting that stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector remains key to accelerating national development.
