Meet Rev Seth Kwame Ativor: Presby Church's first visually impaired minister

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has made history with the ordination of Reverend Seth Kwame Ativor, the first visually impaired person to be trained, commissioned and ordained in the ministry of the Church.

Rev Ativor was ordained during the Church's final ordination service for the 2026 at the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery in the Eastern Region.

Before his ordination, he successfully completed his probationary ministry at Peace Congregation in Akropong, where he underwent ministerial formation and gained practical experience in pastoral service.

He currently serves as the Assistant Chaplain of the Okuapeman Senior High School, where he continues to support students and the school community through his ministry.

Speaking during the ordination service, on July 16, 2026, Rev Ativor said his journey to the ministry was made possible through divine guidance and the support of individuals and institutions that stood by him.

“As you have observed, I was led here not by the light of my eyes, but held and led by God, the Presbyterian Church and many hands who refused to let go of mine or give up on me,” he said.

According to him his story demonstrates the limitless possibilities of God and the importance of creating opportunities for people regardless of their abilities.

“We serve a God of all possibilities and a God of all ability. This is the first time that the Presbyterian Church has trained and ordained a visually impaired person into the ministry,” Rev Ativor added.

He paid glowing tributes to the Church and the individuals who supported him throughout the journey.
