Kodua only thinks about what goes into his stomach; he should dare me and see – Nana Nkansah Buadu

Nana Nkansah Buadu Ayeboafo, Chief of Agric Nzema in the Ashanti Region, has criticised the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, over the cancellation of constituency executive elections in three Ashanti Region constituencies.

According to the chief, who is also the Chairman of the council of elders for Afigya Sekyere East Constituency and a member of the council of elders, Ashanti Region NPP, Kodua influenced the cancellation because he has personal interests in the affected constituencies.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Nana Nkansah Buadu warned the NPP General Secretary that he would publicly expose him if he continued to challenge him.

The chief further declared that no one would be allowed to conduct fresh constituency executive elections in Afigya Sekyere East despite the party's decision to annul the earlier results.

"When Dan Botwe was there, he was really working. John Boadu also defended the party but this Kodua is only concerned about what will go into his stomach.

“If something like this has happened and the Steering Committee has discussed the issue, why didn't they refer it to the National Executive Committee (NEC)? It is pure hatred and greed and this is something they planned to do.

"Kodua, I dare him. If he doesn't take care, the things I will say about him will make him regret it. He came looking for money and not to work for the party. It seems he is afraid of Okatakyie Afrifa, so whenever issues concerning him arise, he defends him.

"If they dare me this morning, they will see what I will do to them, “ he said.

The Afigya Sekyere East constituency executive election was marred by chaos after parliamentary aspirant and media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, together with members of his team, stormed the election venue to allegedly serve a court notice claiming the election had been injuncted.

Their presence triggered disturbances at the venue, leading to the arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah and members of his team. They remain in police custody.

Meanwhile, the NPP has cancelled constituency executive elections held in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region after determining that the polls were conducted in violation of party rules and directives.

The decision was taken by the party's National Steering Committee after reviewing the constituency executive elections held nationwide over the weekend.

In a statement dated July 15, 2026 and signed by the party’s General Secretary, the party named Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa as the affected constituencies. It said the election results had been annulled due to breaches of the rules governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections and, in some cases, the disregard of subsisting court orders.

NPP cancels three constituencies executive elections

According to the statement, the elections in the three constituencies were conducted "in flagrant disregard of party directives, the Rules and Regulations governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections and, where applicable, subsisting court orders."

"The party wishes to assure all members that it remains firmly committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring strict compliance with its Constitution and Regulations, and preserving the integrity, credibility and transparency of its internal democratic processes," the statement added.

As part of the decision, the National Steering Committee has summoned the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to explain the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the elections in the affected constituencies.

The party also referred disputes relating to the Asante Akyem Central constituency election, together with all other unresolved constituency election matters, to the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council for advice and recommendations.

According to the NPP, these measures are intended to safeguard the integrity of its internal electoral processes and ensure full compliance with the party's constitution and regulations as it continues its nationwide constituency executive elections.
