Nana Nkansah Buadu, Chief of Agric Nzema in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, appeared on Okay FM’s Korkokoo programme on July 16, 2026, to discuss issues surrounding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Afigya Sekyere East Constituency executive elections.
During the interview, the chief expressed frustration over recent developments within the party, insisting that the NPP was heading in the wrong direction.
Nana Nkansah Buadu alleged that some individuals within the party were attempting to tarnish his reputation despite his longstanding support and contributions to the NPP.
He stated that he had financially supported the party for decades and highlighted several contributions he claimed to have made to the party and some of its leading figures, including former Presidents Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor.
According to him, his support for the party dates back to 1992, when he was a young man.
“From 1992, when I was a young man, I was the first person who bought a car for Adu Boahen. Ask Lawyer Atta Akyea, ask Dan Botwe, ask Nana Akufo-Addo. Ask Kufuor about the money I spent on the party. Ask Nana Addo about the cars I bought for him. Ask Atta Akyea about the pick-ups I bought for them to campaign with.
“Have you ever heard me speak like this before? But I am speaking today out of pain, and from today I know what to do,” he said.
The chief also criticised former Chief of Staff and senior NPP member, Kwadwo Mpiani, over what he described as a lack of support for the party.
According to Nana Nkansah Buadu, Kwadwo Mpiani has contributed little to the NPP, particularly within his constituency, despite his long association with the party.
He further accused the former Chief of Staff of engaging in actions that undermine the party, claiming that his total financial contribution to the NPP throughout his years with the party amounted to only GH¢700.
However, these claims have not been independently verified.

Nana Nkansah Boadu, who is Chairman of the Council of Elders for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency and a member of the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the NPP, also defended the constituency executive election held in the area.
He insisted that the election was conducted in accordance with the party’s rules and due legal processes, arguing that there were no irregularities to justify the annulment of the results and the decision to hold a rerun.
He accused the national leadership of the NPP of having vested interests in some constituencies where elections were cancelled.
The chief warned that no fresh constituency executive election would be allowed to take place in Afigya Sekyere East despite the party’s decision to annul the earlier results.
He also criticised the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, over the cancellation of constituency executive elections in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
According to Nana Nkansah Boadu, the General Secretary influenced the cancellation because he allegedly had personal interests in the affected constituencies.
He cautioned Justin Frimpong Kodua against continuing to challenge him, warning that he would publicly expose him if the situation persisted.
"When Dan Botwe was there, he was really working. John Boadu also defended the party but this Kodua is only concerned about what will go into his stomach.
“If something like this has happened and the Steering Committee has discussed the issue, why didn't they refer it to the National Executive Committee (NEC)? It is pure hatred and greed and this is something they planned to do.
"Kodua, I dare him. If he doesn't take care, the things I will say about him will make him regret it. He came looking for money and not to work for the party. It seems he is afraid of Okatakyie Afrifa, so whenever issues concerning him arise, he defends him.
"If they dare me this morning, they will see what I will do to them, “he said.
The controversy follows chaos that characterised the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency executive election after parliamentary aspirant and media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, together with members of his team, allegedly stormed the election venue to serve a court notice claiming that the election had been injuncted.
Their presence reportedly resulted in disturbances at the venue, leading to the arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah and members of his team. They remain in police custody.
Meanwhile, the NPP has cancelled constituency executive elections held in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region after determining that the polls were conducted in breach of party rules and directives.
The decision was taken by the party’s National Steering Committee after reviewing constituency executive elections held nationwide over the weekend.
In a statement dated July 15, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, the NPP named Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East, and Adansi Asokwa as the affected constituencies.
The party stated that the results were annulled due to breaches of the rules governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections and, in some cases, the disregard of existing court orders.
