I trust the police and journalists more than judges in jailed TikToker's case - NPP man reveals

National Youth Organiser aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Atick Yakubu, has questioned his confidence in Ghana’s judiciary while discussing the prosecution of TikToker Camila Alhassan.

Speaking on Joy Prime, Yakubu said he was uncertain about how the case would ultimately be determined because he had greater confidence in the Ghana Police Service and journalists than in the country’s judges.

“I trust the Ghana Police and the Ghana journalists more than the judges of this country,” he said.

Asked whether his position aligned with that of his party, Mr Yakubu said he was expressing his personal opinion.

“I have my view. I can speak my view,” he stated.

He said his position was influenced by previous court decisions that, in his view, had raised concerns about the judiciary.

Referring to an earlier case involving a bench warrant, he questioned how the matter was handled after the individual later returned to Ghana.

“We were in this country when a bench warrant was issued. The person stayed away for years, came back heavily protected by National Security, and was freed,” he said.

Mr Yakubu maintained that these experiences made him cautious about predicting the outcome of court cases.

“For this judgment, I don’t know how it will go,” he added.
