From 2018 to 2026: The Black Queens veterans who have been at four WAFCONs

Five members of Ghana's squad for the 2026 TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) have earned another opportunity to represent the Black Queens eight years after featuring in the country's squad for the 2018 edition of the tournament.

Captain Portia Boakye, Grace Asantewaa, Jennifer Cudjoe, Alice Kusi, and Princella Adubea have all retained their places in the national team, highlighting their consistency and longevity at the highest level of African women's football.

The experienced quintet formed part of Ghana's squad that hosted the 2018 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, and they now return as senior figures in head coach Kim Lars Björkegren's team for the 2026 tournament in Morocco.

Boakye, who captains the side, remains one of the leaders in defence, while Asantewaa and Cudjoe are expected to play key roles in midfield.

Kusi and Adubea will also be relied upon to provide creativity and attacking threat as Ghana targets a strong showing at the continental championship.

The Black Queens are aiming to build on their recent progress under Björkegren as they prepare to compete in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mali.

The blend of experienced campaigners and promising young players is expected to strengthen Ghana's chances of making a deep run in the tournament.
