Kojo Addae calls out Kotoko for overlooking Ignatius Osei for coaching role

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Data Bank and sports analyst, Kojo Addae Mensah, has expressed disappointment in Asante Kotoko decision not to appoint Ignatius Osei-Fosu as the club's head coach.

Kotoko recently announced the appointment of South African gaffer Eric Tinkler as the new substantive head coach, who will lead the team into the 2026/2027 season.

Reacting to the decision, Addae Mensah stated that he would have preferred a local coach to take over the role but admitted that most of the top Ghanaian coaches had already worked with the club.

“Whoever you mention would be a recycle. All those who are more or less available would have worked with Kotoko before. Frimpong Manso is available and has worked with Kotoko before. Maxwell Konadu has worked with Kotoko before. Everybody you mention has been there before,” he told Luv FM in an interview.

He further expressed surprise that Sudan assistant coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu was not considered for the role, despite the wealth of experience he has gained.

“So yes, to that extent, you could say we’ve run out of options. We don’t really have options. But I know Ignatius is working with Sudan, and I can bet that if we sit down and talk to Kwasi Appiah, he would allow us to have Ignatius. I would have considered Ignatius, especially considering his exposure and having worked with Kwesi for so long,” he added.
