A Ghanaian woman has reportedly threatened to take her own life after becoming homeless and stranded on the streets of Iraq, where she travelled in search of employment and a better future.
In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on July 24, 2026, the woman appealed to the government and relevant authorities to intervene and facilitate her return home.
The caption accompanying the video stated that the woman, who is also a mother, was allegedly deceived by an agent to move to Iraq.
"The woman, who is also a mother, claims she was deceived by an agent who promised her a genuine work visa and free accommodation. According to her, upon arriving in Iraq, her passport and other personal belongings were seized, leaving her stranded and without support", it read.
In an emotional appeal, she pleaded with authorities to urgently intervene and come to her aid.

“God, please intervene. Do not let me die here in a foreign land. Please bring me a helper. God, please show me mercy. I will kill myself. I am stranded. I even regret coming to this country,” she said.
She is appealing for urgent assistance as she remains stranded and homeless in Iraq.
