PHOTOS: Mahama, Mills family lead tributes as Ghana marks 14 years since Prof Mills' death

President John Dramani Mahama, the family of the late Prof John Evans Atta Mills, government officials, party faithful and other dignitaries gathered at Asomdwee Park on Thursday in a solemn ceremony to mark the 14th anniversary of the former President's passing.

The atmosphere was one of reflection as attendees observed the annual wreath-laying ceremony in honour of the late statesman, whose legacy continues to resonate in Ghana's political history.

President Mahama and members of the Mills family were dressed in white, symbolising remembrance and hope, while many other mourners wore traditional red and black to signify grief and respect as they paid tribute to the former President.

Addressing the gathering, President Mahama said the greatest way to honour Prof Mills was not merely through ceremonial observances but by living according to the values he embodied.

"The truest tribute to Prof. Mills is not found in the wreath-laying ceremony alone, but in how we live out his values of integrity, humility, tolerance and service to the vulnerable," he said.

He further reminded Ghanaians that "History judges leaders not by the volume of their voices, but by the depth of their convictions."

Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Government of Ghana, Parliament, the Mills family, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other institutions, as mourners reflected on the life, leadership and enduring legacy of Ghana's third President under the Fourth Republic.
