A young man identified as Tano Hayford has recounted how he was allegedly forced to drop out of school because of his physical appearance.

In a video shared on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb on July 26, 2026, Hayford said he faced stigma from an early age due to the way he looked.

Recounting his experience, he said people often referred to him as an old man and claimed that the headmaster of Drobo DC Primary School prevented him from progressing to junior high school because of his appearance.

“I schooled at Drobo DC from nursery to primary, and just when I was about to enter JHS, the headmaster told me he wouldn’t allow me to continue just because of my face,” he said.

Hayford further disclosed that his education came to an abrupt end after he was allegedly dismissed from Drobo DC, as several other schools also refused to admit him.

According to him, the schools cited his dismissal from the government school and requested a report explaining why he had been expelled.

“When that happened, other schools also refused to admit me because they all said I had been sacked from a government school.

“They even demanded that I submit a report stating the reason I was dismissed. I went back to the headmaster so he could give me the report, but he said I had done nothing wrong, so he wouldn’t write one. I even went to another school, and the headmaster there told me he would also be sacked if he admitted me,” he added.
