A Ghanaian woman has taken to social media to share how she was allegedly drugged and robbed in a commercial vehicle (trotro) after accepting a sachet of water from a stranger.

Recounting her experience in a video shared on social media by The State News on July 27, 2026, the woman said she boarded a commercial vehicle at Accra (Kingsway), heading to Kasoa, and informed the driver's mate that she would alight at the Shoprite Junction.

According to her, a passenger seated nearby bought sachet water and offered her one. She accepted it without suspecting any foul play.

"I made a mistake by taking the sachet water from a stranger. If the water had been poisoned, I could have died," she said.

The woman explained that shortly after drinking the water, she became drowsy and lost consciousness.

According to her, the vehicle continued to Kasoa before returning to Shoprite Junction after the driver's mate remembered that she had requested to alight there.

"I was completely dazed. I passed out and later realised I was in hospital. They took my phone, my money," she recounted.

According to her, her children later told her she eventually made it home at about 10 pm, but she was confused and was even unable to open the gate to her house.

The woman urged the public to be extremely cautious in public transport, advising passengers not to accept food, drinks or sachet water from strangers.

"If you are in a commercial vehicle, don't accept water from a stranger. If you need water, buy your own bottle, open it yourself and drink it," she advised.
