Residents of Shama-Nyankrom in the Western Region have blocked two trucks belonging to manufacturing companies operating in the area because of the poor condition of roads in the community.

They lamented that the frequent movement of heavy-duty trucks to and from the two companies has worsened the deteriorated roads, making transportation difficult for motorists and residents.

In an interview with Channel One TV on July 28, 2026, they accused authorities of failing to fix the road despite several promises.

“We are not happy about the delay in work on this road project. The contractor started the drainage works three months ago, and up till now, we have seen very little progress. We are calling on the government to intervene; otherwise, we will not allow the companies to get access to their locations for them to even work for the government to get taxes.

"We will not allow trucks belonging to the manufacturing companies to pass on this road until something is done about the situation. The city authorities sit on radio stations in Accra and lie about the condition of the road while we continue to suffer here... We record accidents here every day. If this road is not fixed, not even God will be allowed to pass here," a motor rider stated.

The residents dug a trench across the road to prevent trucks from using the route, protesting what they described as years of neglect and delays in rehabilitating the road.

They are calling on authorities to urgently fix the road.
