Strategic industrialisation key to Ghana's economic transformation - AGI

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has launched the 15th edition of the AGI Industrial and Quality Awards under the theme, “From Stability to Growth: Strategic Industrialisation as a Catalyst for Economic Transformation.”

Speaking at the launch, the President of the AGI, Dr Pharma Kofi Nsiah-Poku, said recent improvements in Ghana’s macroeconomic indicators, including easing inflation, moderating exchange rate volatility and growing business confidence, present an opportunity for industries to contribute to the country’s next phase of economic transformation.

“Economic stability is not an end in itself; it is the foundation upon which sustainable growth must be built,” he said.

Dr Nsiah-Poku added that strategic industrialisation remained critical to improving productivity, promoting value addition, increasing exports and creating jobs.

The Chairperson of the AGI Awards Planning Committee, Dr Nora Bannerman, said the awards process would remain transparent, fair and credible.

She acknowledged the support of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), the government, sponsors, the media and participating companies.

Dr Bannerman also announced that nominations for the awards are officially open and encouraged deserving companies across the country to submit their entries.

The Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority, Prof George Agyei, highlighted the importance of standards in improving product quality and strengthening the competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses.

The launch marks the beginning of activities leading to the 15th AGI Industrial and Quality Awards ceremony, which is scheduled to take place later this year.

The awards are expected to recognise companies and businesses that demonstrate excellence in industrial production, quality, innovation and other areas of the manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Sponsors of the awards include Softcare FM Manufacturing Co., Ghacem, Dzata Cement, PolyTank, Wilmar Africa, Promasidor, Qualiplast, Olam Agri, GCB Bank and Latex Foam.
