WAFCON 2026: 'We are ready to get going' - Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah

Ghana winger Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah says the Black Queens are excited and fully prepared to begin their 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign against Cape Verde on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

The Black Queens open their Group D campaign with high expectations after an intensive period of preparation, and Boye-Hlorkah believes the squad is ready to deliver.

"Wednesday is important; it's the start of the WAFCON. Us girls are really excited; we've been waiting for it," she said.

"I think we've prepared really well. We had a good time out here last year, so now we're prepared to come back and do our job."

The forward highlighted the strong bond within the squad, insisting the team has grown together throughout the build-up to the tournament.

"We've gelled well as a team. We're coming together; we've put the training sessions in," she added.

Boye-Hlorkah also praised the technical team's efforts in ensuring the players are physically ready for the challenge ahead.

"As coach said, we've got a good fitness coach who's put us through our paces, and we're ready to get going."
