Netizens react to Gbande's allegation that NPP paid NDC foot soldiers to picket at EOCO

Social media users have reacted to the allegation by Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) paid NDC foot soldiers to picket at EOCO for them.

‎In the footage, shared by SIKA OFFICIAL on July 29, 2026, Gbande is heard urging party foot soldiers to collect money from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) whenever they are offered cash to attend events.

According to him, the NPP has resorted to mobilizing NDC supporters for demonstrations and other activities.

‎To illustrate his point, he singled out one party member, Adamu, who he said was present at the EOCO office when NPP communicator Miracles Aboagye was detained.

‎Gbande argued that since the NPP has refused to rely on its own members for such engagements, NDC faithful should not hesitate to take money whenever approached.

‎"We also heard that some people from our party were mobilized to EOCO and given money by the NPP. Has the NPP collapsed so much that they now rely on our supporters? Why didn’t Miracles Aboagye mobilize NPP supporters instead of the NDC?

" ...As for the money, they have stolen a lot, and we are also going to arrest them. So when they bring the money, collect it and go to EOCO — but make sure you leave exactly at 6 p.m. Later, we will add our own money, and you will get plenty," he said.

‎These comments have sparked reactions online, with many X users fuming that such statements undermine the seriousness of governance.

“Can we prioritize ideas, accountability and welfare of citizens over petty partisanship?” one user asked.
