'It's not true' - Leipzig’s Director hits out at Fabrizio Romano over Diomande deal

Yan Diomande’s proposed move to Real Madrid remains unresolved after RB Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer publicly dismissed claims that the transfer has already been completed.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had given the deal his famous “Here We Go” status, suggesting that Real Madrid and Leipzig had reached an agreement for the highly-rated Ivorian winger.

However, Schafer has now insisted that the transfer is not at that stage yet, leaving the highly anticipated move hanging in the balance.

“It is clear that some so-called transfer experts claimed a few days ago that the deal was done or announced a 'Here We Go'. That is simply not true. We are not at that stage yet,” Schafer said.

His comments directly contradict reports that Real Madrid had agreed a deal worth more than €100 million for the 19-year-old, who has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young attackers.

Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Leipzig, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists across 33 appearances, according to available season statistics.

His performances attracted interest from several European heavyweights, including Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, before Real Madrid emerged as a leading contender.

The winger was also recently left out of Leipzig’s squad for a friendly, fuelling speculation that his departure was imminent.

Despite the uncertainty, reports indicate that Real Madrid remain keen on completing the transfer, with negotiations continuing between the clubs.
