The Ministry of Defence is holding its maiden annual public lecture today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in honour of the late former Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah.
The lecture is being organised to celebrate Dr Omane Boamah's contributions to Ghana's defence and national security, as well as his commitment to public service.
Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will attend the event as the Special Guest of Honour, alongside a panel of distinguished speakers who will discuss issues relating to national security, defence policy and Ghana's security needs.
The initiative forms part of efforts to preserve the legacy of the late minister and provide a platform for dialogue on critical issues affecting the country's security sector.
Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah died on August 6, 2025, in a military helicopter crash in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region.
He was among eight people who lost their lives in the tragedy, including the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, as well as other senior government officials and military personnel.
