CCTV captures horrific road crash at Batanyaa

A horrific road crash at Batanyaa, a community in the Central Region, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, involving an SUV, was captured on CCTV.

The footage, which has since gone viral, showed the vehicle veering towards a group of people standing by the side of the road.

The car could be seen suddenly driving towards the people at high speed.

Most of the people managed to avoid being hit by running onto the road.

However, one person, a young girl, ran into a ditch and was hit by the vehicle.

The video showed the car hitting some trees in the ditch before knocking down the girl.

Some of the people who managed to escape could then be seen running to the girl's aid and helping her out of the ditch.

Several screams could be heard after the girl was taken out of the ditch.

One woman could be heard screaming in Twi, “The child is dead.”

Unconfirmed reports indicated that the child lost her life, while a number of those injured were reportedly in critical condition.

The timestamp on the CCTV footage showed that the incident happened a few minutes before 5:00 pm.
