Police investigate deaths of two women found in Tamale hotel

The Northern Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the deaths of two women whose bodies were found in a room at Cab Hospitality Hotel in the Gbewa Residential Area of Tamale.

According to a police statement issued on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the bodies were discovered on Monday, August 3, after hotel management reported the incident to the police.

Police officers who responded to the report found the bodies of the two women, who are believed to be nationals of Benin.

“The bodies were subsequently conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death,” the statement said.

The police said preliminary investigations had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths, identify the deceased persons and liaise with the relevant authorities to facilitate contact with their families.

To support the investigation, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed a special team from the National Police Headquarters.

“The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed a special team of Investigators, Intelligence Officers and a Crime Scene Team from the National Police Headquarters to assist the Northern Regional Police Command with the investigations,” the statement noted.

The police have appealed to the public to support the investigation by providing any credible information that may assist in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

“The Command urges any member of the public with credible information on the incident to call the Police Emergency Numbers, 191/18555, or report to the nearest Police Station,” the statement urged.

The identities of the two women and the cause of their deaths have not yet been officially established as investigations continue.
