Retired miner questions calls for special protection for Adamus Resources

A retired miner, Samuel Kwaku Mensah, has questioned calls for the government to reconsider the revocation of the mining lease of Adamus Resources Limited on the grounds that the company is Ghanaian-owned.

He argued that while indigenous mining companies deserve government support, Ghanaian ownership should not shield any company from accountability if it breaches the country’s mining laws.

According to him, "the same laws being enforced against individuals arrested during anti-galamsey operations must also apply to companies operating on a larger scale."

Mensah, in an article on August 12, 2026, said the controversy surrounding Adamus Resources should instead focus on whether the company complied with the conditions of its mining lease and whether the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, followed due process in revoking the lease.
