Dr Emmanuella-Faith Amoako is a paediatric oncologist
Ghanaian paediatric oncologist Dr Emmanuella-Faith Amoako has been named the recipient of the 2026 Roux Prize for her advancing childhood cancer care.
According to a report by OncoDaily on August 12, 2026, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) announced Dr Amoako as this year’s Roux Prize recipient.
It further indicated that Dr Amoako has advanced childhood cancer care in Ghana through her work as Lead Paediatric Oncologist at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where she has developed evidence-backed services focused on early diagnosis, access to treatment and locally led research.

IHME said the initiative forms part of Dr Amoako’s broader efforts to improve childhood cancer outcomes in Ghana.
Dr Amoako is currently a Cancer Genetics Fellow at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada.
She is also the Director of Clinical Affairs at Yemaachi Biotech, and a part-time lecturer at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences.
The Roux Prize recognises individuals who use health evidence to improve the health and wellbeing of populations.
Dr Amoako’s selection will be formally celebrated at an award ceremony in London in October 2026.
