The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has on August 19, 2026, published the full list of entities admitted to its Virtual Asset Sandbox to pilot various virtual asset services under Ghana’s regulatory sandbox regime.
A Virtual Asset Sandbox is a controlled regulatory environment that allows companies offering virtual asset services, such as cryptocurrency exchanges and digital asset platforms, to test their products and business models under regulatory supervision before obtaining full licensing or registration.
The SEC said the sandbox programme commenced in March 2026, following its announcement on March 10, 2026.

According to the Commission, the participation of selected Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) will enable it to collect relevant regulatory data to support the validation and finalisation of guidelines and regulations for activity-specific licensing and registration.
The initiative is being implemented in accordance with the SEC’s mandate under the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025 (Act 1154).
The Commission said the approved participants would pilot specific virtual asset activities under the regulatory sandbox.
