The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School with immediate effect following an alleged sexual assault involving a student of the school.

The two watchmen were also arrested and handed over to the Police to assist with investigations into the incident.

According to a statement issued by GES on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the alleged incident occurred when the student, identified as a special needs student who is on medication, reportedly suffered a relapse and required medical attention.

“It was during this period that the alleged sexual assault was said to have occurred,” the statement said.

GES said the interdiction forms part of its initial response to the allegations as thorough investigations continue.
