Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has emerged as the leading choice in the race for the party’s National Chairmanship position, according to a new survey by Global InfoAnalytics.

The survey, released on Thursday, August 20, 2026, shows Boadu leading with 27% support among NPP voters, followed by former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko with 15% and former NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko with 10%.

Despite Boadu’s lead, the survey describes the contest as fluid, with 47% of respondents yet to indicate a preferred candidate.

“The race remains highly fluid, with 47% of respondents expressing no opinion on their preferred candidate,” Global InfoAnalytics said.

The research firmly noted that the large undecided bloc could play a decisive role in determining the eventual winner, adding that nearly half of NPP voters surveyed are yet to settle on a candidate.

Boadu also records the strongest favourability rating among the three candidates.

He has a 61% favourable rating against 12% unfavourable, giving him a net approval rating of 49%.

Boakye Agyarko records 50% favourable and 17% unfavourable ratings, resulting in a net approval of 34%, while Paul Afoko has 50% favourable and 18% unfavourable ratings, giving him a net approval of 32%.

Boadu’s lead is also reflected in the regional figures, where he tops the named candidates in several regions.

He records 43% in Bono East, 38% in Greater Accra, 38% in the North East, 41% in the Upper East, 29% in the Northern Region and 27% in the Central Region.

Boakye Agyarko remains competitive in some areas, recording 23% in Bono East, 22% in Greater Accra and 21% in the Central Region.

Paul Afoko’s strongest performance is in the Savannah Region, where he records 22%, followed by 19% in the North East.

The survey, however, points to significant uncertainty in several regions. In the Ashanti Region, 71% of respondents expressed no opinion, while the figure stood at 63% each in Oti and Upper West, 60% in Western North and 56% in the Volta Region.

In the race for General Secretary, incumbent Justin Kodua Frimpong has established a wider lead over his potential challengers.

Kodua records 36% support, compared with 10% for Eugene Antwi, 5% for Sylvester Tetteh and 3% for Charles Dwamena. Another 46% of respondents expressed no opinion.

“Kodua has established an even wider lead over his potential challengers,” the survey stated, although it cautioned that the sizeable undecided vote means the contest is not settled.

Kodua’s strongest support comes from the Central Region, where he records 60%, followed by Greater Accra with 54%, Bono East with 44%, Upper East with 43%, Northern with 40%, Ahafo with 39% and North East with 39%.

Eugene Antwi’s strongest performance is in Bono East, where he attracts 30% support. He also records 18% in the Volta Region and 14% in Greater Accra.

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover is meanwhile leading the National Organiser race with 23% support.

He is followed by Salam Mustapha with 14%, Alhaji Ismaela Ibrahim with 8% and Kwame A. Prempeh with 5%, while 50% of respondents remain undecided.

The survey shows Glover performing particularly strongly in the Northern Region, where he records 35%. He also obtains 28% in the Volta Region and 27% each in Ahafo and Greater Accra.

Salam Mustapha leads in the Oti Region with 28%, while Alhaji Ismaela Ibrahim records his strongest performance in Bono with 28%.

The poll also suggests that the chairmanship race could influence the other national executive contests, as supporters of the three leading chairmanship candidates show considerable support for Justin Kodua and Titus Glover.

Among John Boadu supporters, 63% favour Kodua for General Secretary. Kodua also attracts 53% support among Boakye Agyarko supporters and 49% among Paul Afoko supporters.

Similarly, Titus Glover is preferred by 43% of Boakye Agyarko supporters, 36% of John Boadu supporters and 34% of Paul Afoko supporters in the National Organiser race.

Global InfoAnalytics said the findings point to strong cross-camp support for some candidates but stressed that the large undecided vote remains a major factor.

“The sizeable number of voters yet to express a preference remains one of the most significant findings of the poll,” the firm said.

It added that the figures mean that while John Boadu, Justin Kodua Frimpong and Titus Glover currently lead their respective contests, none of the three races can be considered settled

The survey was conducted through telephone interviews from August 10 to 12, 2026, involving 2,557 respondents drawn from all 16 regions.

Global InfoAnalytics said it used probability random sampling with regional quota limits, with the 2024 Electoral Commission register serving as the sample frame.

The survey has a reported 99% confidence level and a margin of error of plus or minus 2.56 percentage points.
