Gbande warns NDC members against jealousy, internal sabotage

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has cautioned party members against jealousy, internal sabotage and attempts to undermine colleagues, warning that such conduct could weaken the party.

Speaking to party officials, Gbande expressed concern about what he described as a growing culture of members working against colleagues who are making progress, particularly since the NDC returned to power.

“We are jealous of each other. When an NDC person is getting rich, his enemy is from within, and yet we do not see that as a problem. Because power has come, people have become big,” he said.

He criticised the practice of deliberately blocking party members from accessing opportunities because of personal disagreements or dislike.

According to him, some members would initially support the nomination or appointment of a young party member but later work against that person because of personal differences.

Gbande said such behaviour amounted to destroying fellow party members while expecting sympathy when the same treatment was eventually directed at them.

“You only get to complain when it is about you, but when you are part of the people doing it to your colleagues, you don't see the pain,” he stated.

He urged NDC members to promote fairness, unity and comradeship, stressing that the principle of treating others as they would want to be treated is recognised across religious and traditional beliefs.

Gbande also warned that members who undermine others could eventually face the consequences of their own actions.

“If you destroy what belongs to somebody today, you may think that you are enjoying. We know the beginning; we don't know the finish. We know today, but we don't know tomorrow.

“Whatever you sow, you will reap it. Whatever you do to somebody…” he added.
