An eyewitness has given a detailed account of how a suspected car snatcher was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal a taxi at the Ejisu traffic junction.

According to the eyewitness, the suspected car snatcher attacked the taxi driver and demanded that he hand over the vehicle.

However, the suspect could not successfully drive away with the car after members of the public noticed what was happening and began raising the alarm.

The eyewitness said the suspect, while attempting to escape with the vehicle, got stuck in a corner after crashing into some shops near the junction.

He explained that the suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot after realising that passersby were screaming and shouting that he was a thief.

The eyewitness said the alleged thief then ran into a mobile money vendor’s container, where he sought refuge until police officers arrived at the scene and arrested him.
