Drama unfolds in court over Tuba car dealer murder case

There was an emotional scene at the Adabraka Magistrate Court on Monday, August 24, 2026, when two brothers accused in connection with the shooting of a car dealer and his wife at Tuba Estate appeared before the court.

The two suspects were escorted from the courtroom and placed in police vehicles after the case was adjourned.

Their appearance angered some relatives of the deceased, who gathered at the court premises and rained curses on them.

The relatives said the suspects were familiar with the family and had previously visited the home of the deceased, Mohammed Rahman, during Sallah celebrations.

One female relative accused the suspects of betraying the family.

“God will punish you all in jail. You come to our house, and we cook for you to eat. So, this was your plan all along? You will all suffer,” she said.

Another relative said the deceased was generous towards the suspects and others during Sallah celebrations.

“Our brother used to buy cattle for us to use during every Sallah celebration. These boys are always there to eat with us. What they have done has really cost us a lot,” the relative added.

It will be recalled that the two brothers, Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon, were arrested in connection with the August 6 shooting at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.

The victim, 54-year-old Mohammed Rahman, died after he was shot, while his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, also sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said Adams allegedly admitted during interrogation to shooting the couple. According to the police, he claimed he was affected by repeated comments allegedly made by Rahman describing him as “lazy and useless”.

“According to the suspect, he was motivated by his perception that the deceased had repeatedly described him as lazy and useless, which he claimed had affected him mentally,” the police said.

Police also said Adams led investigators to a room at Tuba where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was found beneath a wardrobe belonging to his brother, Bala.

Bala, who police said worked with the deceased, was subsequently arrested as investigations continued.

Police further said Adams claimed the pistol had been given to him by a friend identified only as Gideon, who has yet to be located.
