I will be a party chairman for all - Paul Afoko assures

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman Awentami Paul Afoko has vowed to serve the entire party rather than represent any single region, candidate, or faction if elected.

“I will not be chairman for one faction; I will not be chairman for one candidate; I will not be chairman for one region; I will not be chairman for one generation. I will be chairman for every member of the New Patriotic Party,” he said.

Afoko appealed to supporters to remain loyal to the party while in opposition, arguing that unity is essential if the NPP is to defeat the NDC in the 2028 general election.

“Those who supported me and those who did not, those who stood with me in difficult times and those who stood elsewhere, those who have been in this party for fifty years, and the young person who joins us tomorrow—everyone. The NPP will only become strong enough to defeat its political opponents when we stop treating fellow Patriots as enemies,” he said.

He asked delegates for their support in the National Chairmanship contest.

“Delegates of the New Patriotic Party, I ask for your confidence, support, and, humbly, your vote—not so that Paul Afoko can return to an office he once occupied, but so that together we can restore the unity, discipline, grassroots strength, and organisation necessary to win again. Let us bring every Patriot home, put our constituencies back at the heart of our party, and give our presidential candidate the strongest political organisation we can build,” he appealed.

Afoko said Ghanaians are seeking an alternative and that the NPP is best placed to offer it. “Let us offer Ghana a credible alternative and begin that work now: Reunite the Party, Reorganise the Party and Recapture power in 2028. No Afoko faction, no regional faction, no candidate’s faction, One Party, One Family, One Purpose and one united NPP,” he declared.

He expressed optimism that a united NPP would return to power. “Together, we shall rise again. Together, we shall rebuild and, by the grace of Almighty God and with the confidence of the Ghanaian people, we shall recapture power in 2028,” he said.
