Watch as Asantehene engages Ghanaian community during Howard University visit

Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, took a stroll through Howard University in Washington, DC, following a brief engagement with members of the Ghanaian community in the US capital.

In a Facebook post shared by the Manhyia Palace on August 26, 2026, the Asantehene, alongside his wife and son, were captured in a meet‑and‑greet session with the Ghanaian community.

Clad in regal Kente and adorned with the symbols of kingship, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was seen seated inside the university, which is described as one of his homes in the United States, as people approached to greet him.

The visit to the historic institution formed part of his working trip to the United States, where he has been meeting Ghanaian residents and engaging in cultural and educational exchanges.

At Howard University, the Asantehene was warmly welcomed by officials and students, who expressed admiration for his leadership and commitment to strengthening ties between Ghana and the diaspora.
