Ghana Mini Football team targets top spot after rising to 5th in Africa

Ghana’s Mini Football national team has climbed to 5th in Africa and 17th in the world following a series of impressive performances on the international stage.

President of the Ghana Mini Football Association, Bernard Paakow Ekumah, said the team’s recent achievements have strengthened Ghana’s position among the leading mini football nations and demonstrated the progress being made in the sport.

According to him, the Ghana Sparks returned from the African Cup of Nations in Libya with four trophies, while players also received Man of the Match awards in four of the five games they played.

“We came with four trophies, and for the five games that we played, we had Man of the Match awards in four of the games,” Ekumah said.

He explained that the team’s strong showing at the continental competition has contributed to Ghana’s improved position in the global rankings and increased the country’s visibility in mini football.

“In the whole world, we are 17th in the ranking as far as mini football is concerned, and in Africa, we are number five,” he stated.

Ekumah said the achievement was the result of the commitment of the players, technical team and officials, while expressing confidence that the sport could achieve greater success with sustained support and investment.

He noted that the association is focused on building on the team’s recent performances by developing more players, improving preparations for international competitions and creating opportunities for young people to participate in mini football.

Despite Ghana’s current ranking, Ekumah said the association is not satisfied with fifth place in Africa and has set its sights on reaching the top.

“Our target is that, with our ranking in Africa being fifth out of 47 countries, we want to go to the very top,” he said.

He added that achieving that goal would require continued commitment from the association and other stakeholders to provide the team with the necessary resources and competitive opportunities.

The Ghana Sparks are expected to continue their preparations for upcoming international competitions as the association seeks to improve Ghana’s standing on the continent and globally.
