Argentine striker Julián Álvarez has become one of the most contentious players in the summer 2026 transfer window, with both Arsenal and Barcelona vying for his signature.

Barcelona are said to be the player’s preferred destination, having submitted an offer of over €100 million, which was rejected as Atlético Madrid maintained their stance of not selling to the Catalan club.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing an official move for the former Manchester City striker, but Álvarez reportedly does not fancy a switch to England, preferring a move to another Spanish side.
