Why this Pan-Africanist believes DNA tracing dates back to ancient Africa

A Ghanaian creative producer, Panji Anoff, has made a strong case that DNA tracing supposedly originated from Africa.

Explaining his theory in a video sighted by GhanaWeb on August 29, 2026, Panji made reference to why native doctors requested a piece of a person's hair when attending to them for spiritual or medicinal purposes.

"Tell me what are the things native doctors request on people when you contact them to juju somebody? They ask for hair, nails and handkerchief which are all rich sources of DNA," he said.

He added that African culture already had knowledge of DNA except that we had not understood it.

He indicated that the 'father of medicine'Hippocrates from Greece travelled to ancient Egypt to learn  some healing methods.

Modern science indicates that DNA was first identified in 1869 by Swiss chemist Friedrich Miescher, who called it "nuclein".

Later, in 1953, James Watson and Francis Crick discovered its famous double-helix structure, using crucial X-ray diffraction data from Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins.
