Black Princesses have regained confidence after South Korea victory - Kurt Okraku

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku says the Black Princesses’ emphatic 3-1 victory over South Korea will give the team the confidence needed ahead of their final group game at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Ghana bounced back strongly from their opening-day defeat with a convincing win over South Korea, keeping their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage alive.

Okraku speaking with 3sports praised the technical team for restoring the players’ confidence after what he described as a difficult opening game.

“I thought that the first game was a very weird one. It completely deflated the confidence of the team. But kudos to the technical team for bringing the morale and the spirit of the girls back,” he said.

According to the GFA boss, the Black Princesses produced a composed display against South Korea and deserved their victory.

“Today we saw an extremely composed performance by the team. I’m not surprised they won, and they won convincingly,” Okraku noted.

He believes the result will provide the team with the necessary confidence and energy as they prepare for their final group fixture.

“I believe this will give them the needed energy, the needed confidence going into the third group game. And we’re all looking forward to another good performance,” he said.

Okraku also assured that the GFA remains committed to keeping the players motivated throughout the tournament, insisting that the team is happy and focused on securing qualification to the knockout stage.

“The girls are happy, to be honest. They are extremely motivated. For me, this kind of natural motivation is very evident in whatever they are doing.

“On our part, I think we are with them and we are doing whatever it takes to keep their motivation high and to make sure that they do the job by qualifying out of this group to the knockout stage, "he added.
