Pay GH¢30,500 or we kill him – Kidnappers threaten abductee’s family

A 30-year-old man, Bismark Amoh, is being held captive by suspected kidnappers in Assin Fosu in the Central Region, with his family racing to raise an additional GH¢30,500 to secure his release.

Bismark was abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026, after which his captors reportedly demanded a GH¢45,000 ransom and gave the family 24 hours to pay.

The abductors allegedly sent graphic audio and video recordings from Bismark’s phone to his family, apparently in an attempt to conceal their digital trail.

The recordings reportedly show him naked, tied around his hands, legs and neck with heavy ropes and subjected to repeated beatings.

In one of the audio recordings, Bismark is heard crying and pleading with his family to raise the money to save his life.

According to a report by adomonline.com on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the family managed to mobilise GH¢19,500 from relatives, friends and community members and transferred the amount to the abductors.

The payment, however, did not result in Bismark’s release, as the kidnappers allegedly increased the ransom to GH¢49,500 and demanded an additional GH¢30,500.

“The captors reportedly issued a fresh eight-hour ultimatum and threatened to kill Bismark, burn his remains and destroy his mobile devices if the additional amount was not paid,” the report said.

The case has taken another turn following an audio recording in which an unidentified woman allegedly accuses Bismark of defrauding people involved in his detention.

The police have not established the identity of the woman, verified the fraud allegations or confirmed whether the alleged financial dispute is connected to the abduction.

Bismark’s family has formally reported the matter to the Cybercrime Unit of the Central North Regional Police Command.

Regional authorities have since confirmed that an intensive search is underway in collaboration with the National CID and the Police Headquarters Cybercrime Unit.

Detectives are reportedly using digital forensic techniques to trace the WhatsApp communications and identify the perpetrators.

The police have appealed to anyone with credible information about Bismark’s whereabouts or the identity of his captors to report to the nearest police station.
