Thierry Henry is advocating for Kylian Mbappe to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or
Legendary footballer Thierry Henry has backed Kylian Mbappé as the deserving candidate for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, which is set to be announced soon.
According to him, the Les Bleus skipper excelled in major competitions during the year under review, showcasing an incredible goalscoring record.
Henry explained that with Mbappé emerging as the top scorer in major European competitions such as the FIFA World Cup, Champions League, and La Liga, he stands out as an outstanding candidate.

He argued that those opposing Mbappé's candidacy because he went trophyless are misguided, noting that players have won the prestigious accolade without securing titles.
Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo about the favourite for the award, the ex-Arsenal legend said:
“Concerning, if Leo Messi had won the World Cup, I think he would have won the Ballon d'Or. And Olise would not be far off. But Kylian Mbappé is my favourite. People will tell me he hasn't won anything. I think some folks should do a bit of research, and they'll know that some Ballon d'Or winners didn't win anything the year before.
For me, it's Kylian, when you see what he's achieved individually. Top scorer in the Champions League, top scorer in La Liga, top scorer at the World Cup. Michael Olise has the same thing in terms of assists. It’s just insane. I’ll go with Kylian, with Michael Olise not far behind.”
As the debate continues, the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026, in London.
