Kwasi Mensah Duku (Rtd.) was a former Ashanti Regional Commander
A former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Kwasi Mensah Duku (Rtd.), has died at the Police Hospital in Accra.
COP Duku passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, while on admission at the facility after battling an ailment.
The retired senior police officer, affectionately known by family members as “Kwasi Broni,” served as Regional Police Commander in the Ashanti, Western and Upper West regions at various points in his career.
News of his death was announced by a relative, Kwame Asare Boadu, who described COP Duku as an esteemed cousin, brother and son whose contribution to his family and the country would be deeply remembered.

According to Asare Boadu, COP Duku was the son of the late Paul Duku.
He was a native of Goaso in the Ahafo Region.
Arrangements for the one-week observation are currently underway, with details of the final funeral rites expected to be announced later.
