Kissi Agyebeng, Robert Coleman back Accra Academy NSMQ team to return stronger in 2027

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and Chief Executive Officer of Wembley Sports Construction, Robert Coleman, have praised Accra Academy for its contribution to Ghana’s development and urged the school’s National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) team to return stronger in 2027.

Agyebeng and Coleman, both old students of Accra Academy, made the remarks when they visited the school’s NSMQ team following its historic first appearance at the competition’s Grand Finale.

Agyebeng described Accra Academy as a powerhouse of excellence, saying its old students had made significant contributions across various sectors of Ghanaian society, including law, business, science, entertainment and sports.

“Accra Academy students have dominated every aspect of industries in Ghana, from law to business to science, entertainment and even sports,” he said.

He said the school’s contribution went beyond academic achievements, noting that several of its old students continue to occupy influential positions and contribute to national development.

Agyebeng also highlighted the school’s contribution to sports, saying Accra Academy had produced two captains of Ghana’s national sports teams.

He urged the current generation of students to draw inspiration from the achievements of the school’s alumni and strive for excellence in their chosen fields.

The visit followed Accra Academy’s remarkable 2026 NSMQ campaign, which saw the school reach the Grand Finale for the first time in the history of the competition.

Although the Eagles did not win the competition, their historic appearance placed them among the final three contenders and generated excitement among students, staff and old students.

Agyebeng urged the team not to regard the achievement as the end of its journey.

“This is only the beginning. You have shown Ghana what Accra Academy is capable of, and I believe next year you can go all the way,” he said.

He encouraged the team to use the disappointment of falling short of the ultimate prize as motivation to prepare for a stronger campaign in 2027.

Agyebeng and Coleman also presented items, including laptops, to the school and the NSMQ team to support the students’ academic work and quiz preparation.

Agyebeng said the gesture formed part of efforts by old students to support the next generation of Accra Academy students.

“We are here to let you know that your old students are behind you. We believe in you, and we will continue to support you,” he said.

He urged the Eagles to remain focused on academic excellence and set their sights on winning the competition in their next appearance.

“Do not be satisfied with just making it to the final. Keep pushing, keep preparing and come back stronger,” he added.

With the 2026 campaign over, the Accra Academy NSMQ team will now turn its attention to 2027, with the goal of returning to the Grand Finale and going a step further to win the coveted trophy.
