A 55-year-old man identified as Phillip Aryeetey has been sentenced to three years in prison in the United Kingdom after police found nearly £300,000 in cash, cocaine and a Taser during searches linked to an organised crime investigation.

Aryeetey, of Tanhouse Road, was arrested on Friday, October 24, 2025, after officers stopped the vehicle he was driving on the M57.

According to Merseyside Police, officers searched the vehicle and discovered a padlocked suitcase hidden underneath the driver’s seat.

The suitcase contained £299,440 in cash.

A subsequent search of Aryeetey’s home led to the seizure of a further £2,000 in cash, 65 grammes of cocaine and a Taser.

Aryeetey was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing criminal property, possession of a controlled Class A drug with intent to supply, and possessing a prohibited firearm.

The investigation was conducted by officers from the Merseyside Organised Crime Partnership, a joint Merseyside Police and National Crime Agency team dedicated to tackling serious and organised crime in the county.

“This was a significant cash seizure and shows how our officers will leave no stone unturned when it comes to stopping people involved in organised crime.

“We will relentlessly target anyone who brings fear and harm to our communities, while safeguarding the innocent victims of their actions,” Merseyside Police said in a social media post on September 11, 2026.
