Watch as police officer, driver engage in heated clash over physical licence

A police officer and a motorist have reportedly clashed along the Psychiatric Hospital–Kanda highway in Accra following a disagreement over the presentation of a physical driver's licence.

The incident, captured in a video shared on social media on Saturday, September 12, 2026, shows the officer confronting the driver after the latter allegedly refused to hand over his physical licence.

According to the account accompanying the video, the driver told the officer that motorists had been advised to provide their licence code instead of surrendering the physical card during traffic checks.

The refusal reportedly angered the officer, who is alleged to have attempted to seize the driver's car keys.

Tensions escalated as the officer allegedly slapped the driver during the confrontation.

In the video, the officer is also heard warning the driver that if he drove away, he would "deal with him."

The circumstances leading to the confrontation, as well as the identities of the officer and the driver, have not been independently established.
