2027 Budget preparations gather pace as Finance Ministry holds hearings

Preparations for Ghana’s 2027 Budget are gathering pace as the Ministry of Finance begins engagements with ministries and public institutions ahead of the presentation of the budget in November.

The Ministry said it held budget hearings with several ministries and institutions last week as part of the process of preparing the 2027 Budget.

In a post on its X page on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the Ministry of Finance said the hearings were aimed at gathering inputs from government institutions as work on the budget progresses.

“Preparations for the 2027 Budget are gathering pace. Last week, we held budget hearings with several ministries and institutions ahead of its presentation in November,” the Ministry stated.

The Ministry also expressed appreciation to the ministers and their teams who participated in the engagements, saying their contributions would support the budget preparation process.

“We thank all Ministers of State and their teams for their time and valuable contributions,” it added.

The engagements form part of the wider budget preparation process for the 2027-2030 medium-term period.

The Ministry of Finance issued the 2027-2030 Budget Preparation Guidelines on August 31, providing instructions for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and other covered entities to prepare their budget proposals.

The 2027 Budget is expected to be presented to Parliament in November. It is also expected to provide details of the government’s proposed New Economy programme, which is aimed at moving Ghana beyond economic stabilisation towards production, job creation, wealth generation and sustainable growth.

The latest budget hearings mark another stage in the government’s preparations as the Finance Ministry works towards finalising the proposals and priorities that will form the 2027 Budget.
