Minister of Education visits placement resolution centre to address students’ concerns

Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu has visited the National Resolution Centre at the GNAT Hall in Accra to assess challenges facing students and parents following the 2026 Computerized School Selection and Placement exercise.

The visit was to afford the Minister first-hand insight into the difficulties being experienced and to ensure that genuine concerns are addressed before schools reopen.

Interacting with affected parents and students at the Centre, Mr Iddrisu acknowledged their concerns and assured them that the issues would be addressed on merit.

He said some of the cases presented are legitimate and require appropriate attention, adding that the Ministry will resolve genuine cases through established processes.

He explained that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System is designed to promote fairness and transparency in the placement of students and to ensure that available spaces are allocated appropriately.

He assured parents that where there are legitimate challenges with placements, the Ministry will take the necessary steps to address them.

Iddrisu urged parents and students with placement issues to use the National Resolution Centre, where their concerns can be assessed and assistance provided.

According to him, government remains committed to ensuring that no student is left behind as a result of challenges arising from the placement process.

He said the Ministry is working to resolve all outstanding concerns before schools reopen so that affected students can report without unnecessary delays.

The Minister disclosed that a significant number of cases have already been resolved since the Centre was activated, with officials still working on the remaining cases. He commended the staff at the Centre for their dedication.

Iddrisu said the Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and engage stakeholders to ensure that the concerns are properly addressed.

The Minister’s visit to the Centre followed an earlier engagement at the Accra College of Education, where he interacted with candidates after the recent teacher licensure examinations.
